100% Petit Verdot

For those who attended our 2010 Christmas party last December, you might remember getting a pre-release sneak peek at our 2008 Petit Verdot. There were a lot of instant fans that day and if you didn’t make the party, take our word for it- it’s fantastic. The 2008 vintage did not produce a lot of fruit, but definitely delivered in terms of quality.

There are few clusters that look prettier than Petit Verdot during harvest, and in 2008, their thick black skins and small berries held the promise of an intense and special wine. Typically, we will use a little of our Petit Verdot in some of our other red Bordeaux varietals as a blending wine, since its hard to match the color intensity and spiciness of a well-made Petit Verdot. What doesn’t get used for blending is bottled in its purest form for you to enjoy.

Intensely colored and powerfully built, our 2008 Petit Verdot smells like violets, rose petals and sweet toasty oak. On the palate, pink peppercorns, black plums with a graceful and refined texture has its roots in Bordeaux but with a decidedly California flair!
